E-Books Judge Nixes Apple's Bid To Depose Expert

Law360, New York (September 18, 2013, 7:47 PM EDT) -- A New York federal judge refused Monday to let Apple Inc. depose an economics expert that states and consumers used to justify their settlements with five publishers accused of conspiring with Apple to fix e-book prices, citing the plaintiffs' promise not to use that expert at trial.

U.S. District Judge Denise Cote ruled that Apple couldn't question Abraham L. Wickelgren, an economist who offered declarations supporting the reasonableness of the plaintiffs' publisher settlements.
