Milwaukee Council Votes Against $808M Tribal Casino

Law360, New York (September 25, 2013, 2:55 PM EDT) -- As both Wisconsin and federal officials debate a proposed $808 million tribal casino and hotel project that opponents have decried as an off-reservation venture, Milwaukee officials on Tuesday voted to oppose the project and urged the governor to block it.

In a unanimous vote, the Milwaukee Common Council passed a resolution asking Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker to reject the casino proposal, according to city documents. The U.S. Department of the Interior's Bureau of Indian Affairs recently gave the Menominee tribe a key nod for the Kenosha, Wis.,...
