Cadwalader Stuck With Malpractice Defense Ruling

Law360, New York (October 15, 2013, 9:34 PM EDT) -- A New York judge said Friday he won't reconsider his decision prohibiting Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft LLP from making a new defense in a malpractice lawsuit over an extra fee the Washington Redskins' owner had to pay UBS AG during a proxy battle for a theme park operator.

Justice Melvin L. Schweitzer denied Cadwalader's motion to reargue his May decision, in which he ruled it was too late for the law firm to amend its answer to claim another affirmative defense bolstered by former Cadwalader attorney...
