Facebook's New Data Hub To Be Fully Wind-Powered

Law360, New York (November 14, 2013, 1:55 PM EST) -- Facebook Inc.'s new data center in Altoona, Iowa, will run completely on wind power supplied by a generation farm in nearby Wellsburg, the company said.

Altoona is Facebook's fourth data center, developed in Iowa partly with wind energy in mind, according to the company. Though the company didn't immediately confirm the price tag of the project, the Des Moines Register cited unnamed sources that pegged it at $1 billion to $1.5 billion. Facebook has a goal of drawing one-quarter of all its electricity from renewable sources....
