Orlando Gets MLS Expansion Team After Stadium Funding

Law360, Miami (November 19, 2013, 8:53 PM EST) -- Major League Soccer on Tuesday evening officially awarded Orlando, Fla., a new expansion franchise, just weeks after Orlando City Soccer secured tourism tax funds to build an $85 million downtown stadium.

MLS Commissioner Don Garber told a crowd of purple-clad supporters crammed into the Cheyenne Saloon in downtown Orlando, that the Orlando City Football Club would become the 21st MLS expansion team, set to start in the 2015 season.
