Panasonic Ordered To Remit Criminal Docs In Antitrust MDL

Law360, San Francisco (December 6, 2013, 6:56 PM EST) -- A California federal judge overseeing multidistrict price-fixing litigation against lithium-ion battery manufacturers on Friday ordered Panasonic Corp. to hand over documents used in a separate grand jury investigation that led Panasonic subsidiary Sanyo Electronics Co. Ltd. to plead guilty to antitrust charges and pay $10.7 million.

U.S. District Court Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers ordered the discovery after a lengthy hearing in which the manufacturers, including LG Chem Ltd., Panasonic, Sony Corp., Hitachi Ltd. and others, argued that the entire case should be thrown out. The complaint...
