Fannie, Freddie Score Another Win In Ky. Transfer Tax Row

Law360, New York (January 17, 2014, 6:27 PM EST) -- A Kentucky federal judge on Friday tossed a class action accusing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac of skirting real estate transfer taxes in the state, handing the mortgage giants another win amidst a slew of nationwide litigation.

A class of Kentucky county clerks said Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are on hook for the taxes because their exemption doesn't cover taxes applied toward real property and also claimed the charter exemption unconstitutionally blocked intrastate commerce.
