Merck To Pay $100M To End NuvaRing Blood Clot Suits

Law360, Los Angeles (February 6, 2014, 10:08 PM EST) -- Merck & Co. has finalized an agreement to pay $100 million to settle all state and federal suits in the U.S. alleging its NuvaRing birth control causes fatal blood clots, the drug giant confirmed Friday.

The settlement, which was finalized in New Jersey state court Friday morning, includes all federal multidistrict litigation as well as suits in New Jersey state court, and other state and federal proceedings, Merck spokeswoman Lainie Keller confirmed in a statement Friday.
