2 Calif. Lawmakers Lead Push To Legalize Online Poker

Law360, New York (February 24, 2014, 1:36 PM EST) -- California Sen. Lou Correa, D-Santa Ana, and Assemblyman Reginald Jones-Sawyer Sr., D-Los Angeles, introduced legislation Friday that could pave the way toward authorizing online poker in the state and permit Indian tribes with gambling rights to vie for the new licenses.

Per the bills, SB 1366 and AB 2291, the state of California would issue 10-year licenses to operators of intrastate online poker websites and companies could be licensed as early as January 2015.
