Pintrips Wants Ruling That Pinterest Doesn't Own 'Pin' Marks

Law360, New York (March 3, 2014, 6:00 PM EST) -- Travel-planning website Pintrips Inc. lodged a counter-complaint Friday against Pinterest Inc., seeking a declaratory judgment that the fast-growing social media site cannot claim the terms “pin” or “pin it” as trademarks.

The filing came amid an infringement suit from Pinterest — a network of image-sharing “pinboards” — that claims Pintrips specifically chose its name to tread on the popularity of the bigger site.
