Baseball Team Strikes Out In 'Miners' Mark TTAB Battle

Law360, New York (March 17, 2014, 3:50 PM EDT) -- A minor league baseball team failed to register two trademarks related to its “Miners” nickname last week, with the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board issuing a precedential opinion stating the mark would create confusion with the University of Texas at El Paso's identically named athletic team.
