High Profile Merger Of IP Boutiques Falls Apart

Law360 (March 2, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Law firms Merchant & Gould PC and Welsh & Katz Ltd. confirmed Thursday that their highly publicized merger has fallen apart, dashing their plans to create one of the largest intellectual property specialty firms in the United States.

“We concluded that the cultural differences [between the firms] were significant enough that merger discussions should end,” said Merchant & Gould's managing director and chief executive, D. Randall King.
