Calif. City Drops 'Threatened Well' Claims In MTBE Suit

Law360, New York (June 11, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge has granted conditional approval to toss “threatened well” claims from a multidistrict litigation alleging oil companies allowed a gasoline additive to leak into groundwater used by 153 public water providers in 17 states.

On Tuesday, Judge Shira A. Scheindlin of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York dismissed the claims of the city of Sacramento, Calif., the Sacramento County Water Agency, the Sacramento Suburban Water District and San Juan Water District.
