Chains Sue Over San Francisco's Nutrition Label Law

Law360, New York (July 8, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The battle over ordinances requiring chain restaurants to display nutritional information about their food, which played out in New York this spring, has shifted venues to the West Coast, with a lawsuit by the California Restaurant Association challenging similar rules in San Francisco.

The restaurant association sued the city of San Francisco on July 3, claiming that the law enacted by the city in March is preempted by federal laws and restricts the free speech of restaurant owners.
