Adelson Can't Nix Subpoena In WSJ Libel Case

By Martin Bricketto (February 10, 2015, 7:16 PM EST) -- A New Jersey judge on Tuesday ruled against efforts by Sheldon Adelson to quash a subpoena that a Wall Street Journal reporter sought as part of the billionaire casino owner's libel suit against her in Hong Kong, which challenges a description of him as "foul-mouthed."

U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark Falk said that reporter Kate O'Keeffe's request for a subpoena of a PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP partner who served as the auditor for Las Vegas Sands Corp. isn't unduly burdensome or intrusive. Adelson is chairman of the board of LVSC and Sands China Ltd., two of the world's largest gaming companies.
