Chuck E. Cheese's $1.75M Background Check Deal OK'd
Law360, New York (July 7, 2015, 7:38 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge signed off Tuesday on a proposed settlement worth up to $1.75 million in a class action brought by Chuck E. Cheese's job applicants who said the company failed to provide proper disclosures in connection with background check reports.
U.S. District Judge Janis L. Sammartino granted the plaintiffs' unopposed motion for preliminary approval of the deal, which covers an estimated 28,500 people who have applied to Chuck E. Cheese's since March 24, 2012. It also includes about 405 people who said adverse action was taken against them as a result of the improper background checks.
