Federal Circuit Upholds Fujitsu Ruling

Law360 (June 16, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has affirmed a lower court ruling that Japanese technology giant Fujitsu did not infringe on a university’s patent for an energy-saving device used in plasma televisions.

The case, decided Thursday, pitted Competitive Technologies Inc. and the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois against Fujitsu. The school and the former licenser argued that Fujitsu stole its invention for a clamping technology.
