Another Trial Set To Begin In Vioxx Fallout

Law360 (June 22, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A trial has begun in California in one of a plethora of big-dollar lawsuits against pharmaceutical giant Merck & Co. over the company's former-blockbuster drug Vioxx.

A jury will have to decide whether Stewart Grossberg suffered a heart attack because he took the arthritis and acute pain drug, Vioxx.

Although it’s tackling each case individually, Merck has to look at the larger picture as well. It’s facing a potentially staggering financial loss from the fallout.
