EMI, Warner Call Off Merger Talks After Antitrust Ruling

Law360 (July 27, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A European court ruling that threatens to dismantle the marriage between two music industry titans is creating ripple effects across the industry, with Warner Music Group Corp. and EMI Group calling off merger talks for now.

“Warner Music Group will monitor the situation carefully, but until matters become clearer…Warner does not believe that it would be prudent to pursue a combination of Warner and EMI,” Warner said in a statement.
