Law360, Los Angeles (April 12, 2016, 9:52 PM EDT) -- The Third Circuit on Tuesday rebuffed Sheldon Adelson’s attempt to stop a U.S. subpoena by a Wall Street Journal reporter in a libel suit the billionaire filed in Hong Kong over a description of him as “foul-mouthed,” saying the request was relevant and not burdensome.
In its ruling, a three-judge panel affirmed a district court’s denial of a motion from Adelson to quash the subpoena served by Hong-Kong based Wall Street Journal reporter Kate O’Keeffe upon a PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP partner who had been the auditor for the Las Vegas Sands Corp., where Adelson is chairman of the board.
