NeoMedia Slapped With Suit Over Phone Application

Law360 (December 1, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Two technology companies have accused NeoMedia Technologies Inc. of infringing two of their patents related to software that allows users to transform their camera phones into mobile bar-code readers.

New York-based Scanbuy Inc. and Texas-based Marshall Feature Recognition LLC filed their complaint Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, accusing NeoMedia of violating two patents, issued in 2007 and 2005, dealing with using mobile devices to read bar codes.

Scanbuy owns one patent through assignment and has an exclusive license agreement...
