Houston Chronicle Building's Demolition Triggers Suit

By Jess Krochtengel (April 21, 2016, 8:29 PM EDT) -- A Houston property owner sued in Texas court Wednesday to block the demolition of the former Houston Chronicle building downtown, alleging the company has a perpetual easement through the building's basement that allows the property to connect to the city's downtown tunnel network.

Theater Square LP, which owns Block 43 in downtown Houston, is seeking an injunction in Harris County District Court to protect an easement through the existing Chronicle building's basement and passageways to allow construction of a tunnel that would connect Block 43 to the six-mile network of Houston tunnels that house hundreds of shops and retailers.
