Judge Won't Toss RIM License Dispute With Motorola

Law360, New York (December 15, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal judge has refused to dismiss patent infringement and antitrust claims against Motorola Inc. arising from a failed licensing deal granting rival Research in Motion Ltd. access to essential wireless technology patents.

Judge A. Joe Fish of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York on Thursday denied Motorola's bid to toss the claims, ruling RIM had adequately pled Sherman Act claims accusing Motorola of breaking a promise to license its patents according to certain standards.
