NY Lawmakers Pass Daily Fantasy Sports Legalization Bill

By Zachary Zagger (June 17, 2016, 8:46 PM EDT) -- New York lawmakers have passed a bill to legalize and regulate daily fantasy sports in what could put an end to a major legal challenge for the beleaguered industry after the New York attorney general had hit industry leaders DraftKings and FanDuel with lawsuits alleging their contests violated anti-gambling laws in the state. 

In the early-morning hours of Saturday, the New York Senate voted 45-17 to pass a bill, S8153, that would amend state law to allow "interactive fantasy sports" contests in the state. Lawmakers made a frenzied effort to get the bill to the floor as it remained in committee...
