States, Enviros Move To Support EPA's New Methane Rules

Law360, New York (August 16, 2016, 3:41 PM EDT) -- Eight states, the city of Chicago and several environmental groups on Monday weighed in at the D.C. Circuit in favor of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's regulations reducing methane emissions from new and modified oil and gas infrastructure.

The rule, finalized in May, is a linchpin of the Obama administration's efforts to slash methane emissions from the oil and gas sector by 40 percent to 45 percent from 2012 levels by 2025. But it met with stiff resistance from the oil and gas industry as well...
