Deals Rumor Mill: Peanuts Worldwide, SoftBank, Carrefour

By Benjamin Horney (January 31, 2017, 3:45 PM EST) -- New York-based brand management firm Iconix Brand Group Inc. is looking into a sale of its majority holding in Peanuts Worldwide LLC, the company that owns the rights to well-known comic strip characters such as Snoopy and Charlie Brown, Reuters reported on Tuesday. According to the report, Iconix begin exploring a sale of its controlling stake in Peanuts Worldwide after MetLife Inc. late last year decided to stop using the Peanuts characters as mascots. Chinese companies are among those that have expressed interest, the report said. Iconix is separately planning to sell its Strawberry Shortcake brand, the report said. Iconix is working with Guggenheim Partners LLC, the report added....
