SDNY Judges Handle 1 In 4 Securities Cases, Data Show

Law360, New York (March 16, 2017, 6:06 PM EDT) -- With the Southern District of New York handling one of every four federal securities cases filed since the end of the financial crisis, big names on the bench including U.S. District Judges Jed Rakoff, Kevin Castel and Lewis Kaplan have led the federal judiciary in the number of cases heard, according to new data.

Nine of the 10 judges with the biggest securities caseload since 2009 have sat in the Southern District, home to Wall Street and some of the world's most prominent banks and stock-offering underwriters, according to data from Lex Machina, which released a report on securities litigation Thursday....
