DC Judge Certifies 3 Classes In Washington Metro Bias Row

Law360, New York (April 18, 2017, 7:38 PM EDT) -- A Washington, D.C., federal judge certified three groups of African-American Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority employees and job applicants who claim they were disproportionately impacted by a criminal background check policy.

U.S. District Judge Rosemary Collyer on Tuesday issued in a redacted version of an order she authored on March 31 partially granting a class certification request by plaintiffs accusing WMATA of instituting a criminal screening policy that had a disparate impact on black individuals.
