Lawyer's Email Boasts Shown At $2B Payday Loan Fraud Trial

Law360, New York (September 26, 2017, 6:34 PM EDT) -- A Manhattan jury saw potentially damaging emails Tuesday in the criminal trial of race car driver Scott Tucker and lawyer Timothy Muir in which an ebullient Muir boasted, “I should just drop the mic” in 2010 after a move to shield their tribal payday loan empire through what prosecutors call a fake lawsuit.

The missives stood out on a day in which prosecutors accelerated toward completing their case during the third calendar week of trial before U.S. District Judge P. Kevin Castel.
