Climate Bill Should Comply With WTO: Trade Rep.

Law360, New York (April 15, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- President Obama's point person for trade policy told Republican lawmakers that the administration was pushing for climate change legislation being debated in Congress to comply with existing international trade rules.

Ron Kirk, the U.S. trade representative, said in the letter to four Republican members of Congress that complying with the World Trade Organization was vital to ensure that any climate change rule adopted in the United States doesn't backfire and hurt American exports.
