Small Businesses Defend Claims In Equifax Data Breach MDL

Law360 (September 14, 2018, 8:42 PM EDT) -- A group of small businesses from across the country pushed back Thursday against Equifax’s bid to dismiss their class action complaint from multidistrict litigation over its massive data breach last year, arguing that they do have standing to pursue claims even though it was their owners’ personal information that was compromised.  

In a brief filed in Atlanta federal court, the small businesses said that because their ability to get credit depends on their owners being creditworthy, they had to shell out for credit monitoring and other protective measures after the Equifax breach to guard against the risk of getting dragged...
