Navy Federal Wants Zelle Scam Suit Kept In Federal Court

By Emilie Ruscoe (June 22, 2022, 9:46 PM EDT) -- Navy Federal Credit Union has pushed back against a customer's attempt to see her proposed class action against the bank litigated in state court, arguing that "simple math" shows the suit belongs in federal court.

In a Tuesday brief, the credit union laid out objections to plaintiff Jacqueline Wilkins' request, arguing her suit, filed in April, didn't state a specific sum as the total damages allegedly sustained by the proposed class and therefore didn't meet the standards for remand.

The credit union said that's because it wasn't clear from Wilkins' complaint that the monetary amount in controversy wouldn't eventually be shown...
