Tesla Stock Gains Flagged As Missing Point In Chancery Trial
By Jeff Montgomery (July 23, 2021, 7:13 PM EDT) -- Testimony on Tesla's "meteoric" stock price increase after its more than $2 billion acquisition of rooftop solar company SolarCity Corp. in 2016 drew an objection Friday in a Delaware Chancery stockholder suit seeking damages from CEO Elon Musk for his allegedly conflicted role.

The stir followed Vice Chancellor Joseph R. Slights III's quizzing of a Tesla witness on how synergy expectations figured into a vote on the combination of Tesla's electric car and "Powerwall" battery business with the country's then-largest residential and commercial solar installer.
