NFL Players Ask Court To Allow Their Workers' Comp Claims

Law360, New York (December 20, 2012, 12:31 PM EST) -- Fifteen former NFL players asked a California federal court on Tuesday to overturn an arbitrator's decision to bar them from pursuing workers' compensation claims in California, saying it clearly “does violence to California's public policy.”

The players argued that arbitrator Michael Beck erred in finding earlier this month that choice-of-law provisions in their contracts were enforceable and that the plaintiffs had waived their right to file for workers' comp benefits in California, which is the only state that allows workers to file claims for repeated injuries...
