United Airlines Shakes Pilots' Suit Over Union Deal

Law360, Los Angeles (February 4, 2014, 7:42 PM EST) -- An Illinois federal judge tossed a putative class action Tuesday against United Airlines Inc. and a pilots union by airline pilots challenging a new union agreement resulting from United's merger with Continental Airlines, holding that the dispute would require arbitration under the Railway Labor Act.

The pilots sued United and the Air Line Pilots Association last year, saying they would be underpaid under the new labor deal and alleging breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty of fair representation arising out of the 2010 merger...
