By Charlie Innis (October 21, 2021, 8:57 PM EDT) -- Activist shareholders may have lowered their voices a bit because of the pandemic, but 2021 saw many dissidents picking up the megaphone again, with several activist campaigns playing out, including a David vs. Goliath battle that may set an example for boardroom bouts to come.
BlackRock CEO Larry Fink set the tone for 2021's shareholder activism at the start of the year. In his January open letter to CEOs, he named "climate risk" as a crucial issue and urged companies to "disclose a plan for how their business model will be compatible with a net-zero economy."
