Sandoz, States Settle Drug Inflation Claims For $150M

Law360, New York (November 16, 2011, 6:29 PM EST) -- Sandoz Inc. on Wednesday agreed to pay $150 million to settle claims brought by a whistleblower and the states of California and Florida in multidistrict litigation accusing pharmaceutical companies of reporting inflated drug values to Medicaid programs.

The settlement resolves claims brought by California and Florida, according to a joint settlement notice and dismissal motion filed in Massachusetts federal court by Sandoz and relator Ven-A-Care of the Florida Keys Inc. The federal government also consented to the dismissal, finding its portion of the settlement to be fair, according to the notice.
