FanDuel, DraftKings Score Win Over Gambling Patent At PTAB

Law360 (October 5, 2018, 7:14 PM EDT) -- The Patent Trial and Appeal Board has handed a win to sports betting platforms FanDuel and DraftKings, invalidating several claims of a video system patent as obvious over a combination of prior art.

In a 91-page decision, the PTAB on Thursday found that various claims in Cantor Fitzgerald affiliate CG Technology Development LLC's patent, U.S. Patent Number RE39,818, were invalid because they would have been obvious in light of previous patents for game systems known as Walker and Kelly, as well as a book known as Viescas.
