Fox News Settles Case Over 9/11 Photo Posted To Facebook

Law360, New York (February 16, 2016, 10:23 AM EST) -- Fox News Network has reached a settlement to avoid a jury trial over whether the cable news giant infringed copyrights by posting a famous photo of firemen at the World Trade Center on 9/11 to a Facebook page.

Announced less than 24 hours before a trial was set to kick off, the deal will resolve a closely watched case filed by North Jersey Media Group over Fox News’s use of Thomas Franklin’s "Raising the Flag at Ground Zero” — an iconic photo of three firefighters hoisting a flag above the ruins of the World Trade Center.
