Chicago Law Firms In Trademark Fight Over 'O'Keefe' Names

Law360, New York (July 24, 2017, 5:20 PM EDT) -- Two small Chicago law firms, both named “O'Keefe” and both focusing on tax law, are locked in a trademark fight over their shared use of the surname.

O'Keefe Lyons & Hynes LLC, a 10-attorney firm founded in 1937, filed a trademark infringement lawsuit Friday against an upstart crosstown rival called O’Keefe Law Firm, claiming the similar name and identical focus on property taxes will confuse clients.
