Biotech Executive Convicted Of Fraud, Lying To Feds

Law360, New York (August 8, 2018, 2:05 PM EDT) -- A Manhattan federal jury on Wednesday convicted biotech executive Patrick Muraca on charges of defrauding investors and lying to the FBI, rejecting his argument that he had merely been a sloppy accountant.

Muraca was accused of spending hundreds of thousands of dollars given to him by investors in his firms MetaboRx and NanoMolecularDX like it was his own money. He was also accused of misleading federal agents and giving them forged evidence after he was arrested in July 2017.
