Discovery Referee In BASF Fraud Suit Says DQ Unwarranted

Law360, New York (August 11, 2017, 9:59 PM EDT) -- A Ballard Spahr LLP partner tapped to referee discovery in a proposed asbestos fraud class action against BASF Catalysts LLC and Cahill Gordon & Reindel LLP said Friday he has no involvement in a case involving Cahill Gordon’s defense firm and needn’t be replaced as special master.

In a letter Friday to U.S. District Judges Jose L. Linares and Joseph A. Dickson, Ballard Spahr's Roberto Rivera-Soto also said his long-severed relationship with Fox Rothschild LLP, which represents plaintiffs in the BASF case, is irrelevant.
