Owners Want Airbnb Told To Stop Rentals In Their Buildings

Law360, New York (October 19, 2017, 9:19 PM EDT) -- The owners of several residential apartment buildings asked a California federal court Wednesday to block Airbnb from allowing their tenants to rent out apartments on its website, saying they will likely prevail on claims that rowdy guests are costing them money and disturbing residents, harms that will continue without the court's assistance.

Several subsidiaries of large national landlord Apartment Investment and Management Co., or Aimco, argued that they deserve a preliminary injunction against Airbnb Inc. and Airbnb Payments Inc., contending that the evidence raised in their proposed class action shows that the home-sharing site knew the building owners prohibited the tenants...
