NJ Meadowlands Authority Not Liable For Landfill Cleanup

Law360 (July 26, 2018, 6:24 PM EDT) -- A New Jersey appeals court on Thursday agreed that an agency overseeing the zoning and regulatory efforts of the state’s Meadowlands region should not be required to shoulder any burden that may be placed on the town of Kearny in association with the cleanup of a landfill in the area.

A three-judge panel sided with the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, upholding a trial court judge’s finding that a 2005 lease agreement allowing the agency to operate the Keegan landfill in Kearny made no reference to indemnification requirements on the part of the NJSEA.
