Theranos Founder Elizabeth Holmes Can't Shake New Charges

Law360 (October 13, 2020, 3:39 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Tuesday rejected attempts by ex-Theranos CEO Elizabeth Holmes to dismiss fresh charges accusing her of defrauding Walgreens, Safeway and others, finding they are not time barred or "so substantially" broad that she wasn't on notice of them.

Holmes and Theranos' former Chief Operating Officer Ramesh "Sunny" Balwani had filed several motions to toss two recent superseding indictments in the case that expand the time frame in which they allegedly defrauded investors in the once-high-flying startup's blood-testing technology.
