Mobile And Online Sports Betting Bill Fails To Pass In NY

Law360 (June 21, 2019, 8:09 PM EDT) -- Mobile and online sports betting in New York will have to wait even as the market grows in neighboring New Jersey after New York lawmakers failed to pass proposed legislation that would have expanded sports betting beyond the state's four licensed casinos.

State lawmakers closed the latest legislative session early Friday morning without an agreement on highly anticipated mobile and online sports betting legislation. Earlier this the week, the state Senate passed a sports betting bill, S.17D, proposed in January by state Sen. Joseph P. Addabbo Jr., chairman of the Committee on Racing, Gaming and Wagering.
