Sports Wagering Bill Is A Big Bet On Federal Oversight
Law360 (December 20, 2018, 10:15 PM EST) -- Lawmakers on Wednesday unveiled a much-awaited response to sports betting in a bipartisan bill that experts say may provide a workable framework for a nationwide sports gambling industry, even amid concerns it may propose too much federal oversight.
Sens. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, and Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., introduced the Sports Wagering Market Integrity Act of 2018 after months of talk about a new law following the U.S. Supreme Court's May ruling wiping away a 1992 law that had essentially limited legal sports betting to Nevada.
