NCAA, Conferences Reach $209M Deal In Grant-In-Aid MDL

Law360, New York (February 6, 2017, 1:51 PM EST) -- The NCAA and 11 conferences sued by student-athletes in antitrust suits contesting caps on scholarships have reached a $208.7 million deal to settle monetary claims in the multidistrict litigation, according to documents filed Friday in a California federal court.

The student-athletes asked the court to grant preliminary approval of the settlement, saying it was hard fought and would award an average of nearly $7,000 to current and former basketball and football players who played a sport for four years and were affected by the caps.
