FTC Says Biz Threatened To Delete Companies From Google

Law360 (May 18, 2018, 6:38 PM EDT) -- The Federal Trade Commission in California federal court on Thursday accused a Florida-based company of scamming small businesses through false threats to remove them from Google search results and sham search engine optimization products.

Pointbreak Media LLC and half a dozen interrelated corporate entities ensnared small-business owners in a phony search optimization scheme through robocalls purporting to come from Google, warning that their businesses were in danger of being labeled “permanently closed” or removed entirely from the internet search platform, according to a complaint from the FTC.
