Big Oil, Calif. Cities Set To Clash Over Climate Change

Law360 (May 23, 2018, 7:37 PM EDT) -- Climate change will be front and center Thursday morning in U.S. District Judge William H. Alsup's San Francisco courtroom as Big Oil squares off with Oakland and San Francisco in a hearing over the future of the cities' suits seeking to hold oil giants liable for climate change-related infrastructure damage.

The cities claim that BP, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Exxon and Royal Dutch Shell promoted fossil fuel use even though they knew climate change could harm coastal cities, meaning they should be on the hook for infrastructure costs....
